Zalaa Jinst white
White goats for cashmere and meat use that adapted well to pastureland breeding in Gobi desert area were named as Zalaa Jinst White in 2000. N. Bayarmagnai, Ts. Idermunkh and Ts. Khuyag worked efficiently for organizing the breeding work of the herd and improving its biological and economic advantages for years.
An adult Zalaa Jinst White male goat is around 58 kg and the female one is around 40 kg. 380 grams of cashmere can be got from the male goat while 290 grams of cashmere can be collected from the female goat. Average diameter of the fiber is between 16 and 16.5. The Zalaa Jinst nucleus herd is bred in Shine Jinst soum of Bayankhongor province.
Population: Shinejinst soum has 4 bags, 631 families and 2287 people.
Geographic location: Bayankhongor province has 1.6 million hectares of land which has mountain chains of 2000 meters ASL, hills, steppes and valleys. There are Zalaa Jinst- Bogd Mountain of 2557 meters ASL and Segs Tsagaan Bogd Mountain of 2480 meters ASL on the southern part. There are straits named Ingen Khuuvur /695.5m/ and Toli Bulag /729 m/, the lowest points of Mongolia, on the central and west part.
Climate: Shinejinst soum has severe climate. It has low precipitation in winter and generally dry air and low humidity. In spring, it is windy and wind speed is sometimes more than 40 meters per second. This place basically features dry and desert area of Central Asia. It is complex of steppe desert, typical desert and dry and stony desert.
Pasture: 400 hectares which is 25% of total territory of the soum has Zag forest. Plants such as tamarisk, elm and brush are grown in that area. The soum has steppe and desert-like area which has Mongolian herbs. There are 45 types of plants grown there. 173 kilos of crops is found at one hectare of area and 107 kilos of it is used by animals. The main breeds there are sheep, goats and camels.
